Postby warton26 » Sat Apr 09, 2011 2:45 pm

back in october i was working for temp work agency and got injured at work but have no health insurance through them and was sent to the emergency room to get stitches and a month later was billed for 508.06 dollars for the visit. i did get a workers compensation for 600 dollars for the two weeks that i missed but now my question is since i was a temporary worker was the company that i worked for or agency suppose to cover this bill?

This bill should be covered by the agency's workman's comp carrier.

What happened to you is quite common---the ER has no idea who the workman's comp carrier is, so they bill you. Take the bill to the temp agency.

Only the temp agency can answer that. It depends on the agreement you, your temporary agency, your temporary employer had. Look at your agreement with them or contact them. What you were paid for in wages for work comp does not mean you are liable for medical bills.

It may be as simple as submitting the bill you received to the proper agency/company.

You need to talk to your workers comp adjuster, who should be paying you for the medical bills.

Depending on what state you are in, that $600 might be for the medical bills. Most states, you have to be off work MORE than two weeks for wages to be covered.

Neither. The agency's insurance company is supposed to cover it.
