If a sixteen year old girl ran away and got caught, what would the police do?

OKAY first off this is just something i've been thinking about I probably wont do it.
I have never had any trouble with the law, no major issues such as drugs etc just bad depression and anxiety. i just feel trapped and i dont know how to get out.
IF IF IF IF i was to run away, and it probably wouldnt be for very long maybe a day or two, and got caught, what would happen?

You would probably be questioned and turned in not to jail but to your house

The police will sexually assault you and if you fail to comply they will kill you and you will become just another statistic and never to be seen or heard of ever again!

Depends on how the police are feeling. Generally, they will try to return the runaway to her home. If she keeps running away however, the police will assume the home has problems and they will send the girl to child services so she can be put into a foster home, she'll get counseling, parents will have to prove they are fit parents in order to get the girl back, home. If nothing extreme is going on at home, why would you want to put your parent(s) through all that worry and heartache? Can you not just arrange to stay with a relative or friend for a few days? There's just too many freaks and crazies out there to be fooling around.

at 16 it isnt really running away... its just moving out. i feel u man iv been there.

Running away from home, if you are under age 18, then it is ILLEGAL. If the police find you, the will inform your parents but more than likely, they will take you to a juvenile detention center. You will stay there at least 72 hours for a court date. Then the judge will listen to your parents and your statements, and possibly a probation officers or a human service worker. Then the judge will decide whether to release you to your parents or have you held until you sent to some program. They can sentence you. Your parents can also file what in many places is called a CHINS petition. (Child in Need of Supervision) It basically means that your parents can no longer control your behavior and are asking the courts to help. If you cannot stay at home because you are being beaten or sexually abused, report it. Otherwise, depending on where you live, they may have runaway shelters. If you go there, you will not get into trouble with the law but they MUST inform your parents that you are there within 24 hours.

They would lock her up in a basement and then rape her until they get sick of her, then kill her and dump her somewhere, only to "discover" the corpse the next day.
