If Payday Is On A Holday In Ny State

Hello,

I was terminated / laid off from my job on Wednesday of this week.  Today is pay day, also Veteran's Day and no checks were issued.  Is my employer required, by law to pay us the day before a holiday if pay day falls on a holiday?  Our pay period ended on Wednesday and we always get paid the 2nd day after the pay period ends.

Susan - New York only requires that employees be paid on their regular pay day, which for most workers cannot be less frequent than twice a month.  If your regular pay day falls on a bank holiday, it is not required that employees be paid earlier than their regular pay day.  The next business day would be an acceptable change in regular pay day rules.
