I'd be interested to see what would happen if we eliminated gun show sales and placed reasonable restrictions on assault weaponry. If it doesn't help, remove the restrictions.

Moody:
Maybe he just didn't think the libertarian Cato Institute or a site named "guncite" would be impartial places to acquire information?

why ?? Easy America is falling apart because of jerk off congressmen filling their pockets and agendas and not doing what is needed for this country. Also people want to be hippies and ban stuff like HARD LABOR from prisons. That is until someone hurts their families and they are all about some hard labor or death sentences. But no we live in a BS hippy society that says we should love our criminals. PRISON SHOULD NOT BE A STATUS SYMBOL. People should fear PRISON like the gates of HELL. you want less crime period start putting public WHIPPINGS for thieves and burlgars, Hangings or executions for rapists, child molesters, and murderers, and HARD LABOR period. when a man fears HELL he will avoid it.

That makes absolutely no sense.
Just because strict gun laws don't prevent criminals from getting guns, doesn't mean the inverse is true.

Take a logic class.

PS We are not the only developed country to have a high gun-related deaths rate. You are warping the statistics to show your point.

You cannot regulate something that is illegal. Any moron in the world is aware that banning guns or strict gun laws do not keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

Drugs are illegal, yet 20% of Americans use illegal drugs.

If you look at this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate and then look at the firearms laws on this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firearms_law you can make up your own mind as to whether gun laws influence gun related deaths, as for people saying that if guns are illegal people will use knives etcetera this link shows homicide rates per capita http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate so you can decide whether other means of homicide are as prolific as firearm murders.

I think that there is an undeniable link between the amount of gun ownership and firearm related deaths, but it is not for me to say whether or not guns should be banned in the USA, to my mind the most sensible way to decide is via referendum, let the people not the government an lobbyists decide, true democracy, one man one vote, the majority dictate legislation. I can't see anything more sensible than that.

Most of the criminals are registered gun owners.

@Mark F: Oslo happens several times a year in America, so that's not much of a response.
