Say a child turns 18 and does not move out of his parents' home (his parents are fine with him staying there rent-free, etc). Before he was 18, all his possessions were, in the eyes of the law, truly his parents' possessions. Now that he's an adult, he should have normal property rights, but do those still apply while he remains at his parents' residence? For example, can his parents legally take away (as a punishment) things from him that he bought as an adult?
If possible, please cite where in U.S. Federal Law and/or Tennessee State Law where this subject is addressed.
