It is a crime to interfere with a police officer in the commission of his duty Part of the commission of his duty here is to fill out the traffic ticket and your only place to be involved with the ticket is to sign the ticket acknowledging that you have received the ticket from the officer. I can see the officer interpreting the "interference law" as you writing some things on the ticket, a legal court document. Also, you are defacing a legal court document. Plus, this document is HIS case against you - typically, he or she will write their notes about the incident on the ticket. Now, you have the ability to write down anything you want to write down, just not on that document. You were going to receive a copy of that document.Think of it this way: you filled out your income taxes and, along the side, over some unused areas, you wrote some stuff about your taxes or yoiur income for the year. Would you be shocked or surprised if it were rejected? Now, let's go see if there's any specific law I can find concerning this:This has happened to others:http://www.coyoteblog.com/coyote_blog/2005/08/my_dumbest_traf.htmlI've had my share of speeding tickets too and know when I'm boned and when it's bull***. My favorite bull*** ticket was one in L.A. for failure to yeild when making a left at a light. The kickers is that it was him I failed to yeild to(it was night and I couldn't tell). Of course, it was hard to swallow that load of crap since he was 700 or so feet away, but doing 80 in a 45 without his flashing lights on.I was belligerant on that one, nearly ended up going to jail because I asked to have the ticket transfered to the county seat right there and when he declined I wrote that fact below my signature. Apparently that is called "defacing a ticket," haha. You see this language in most traffic lawDefacing, altering, removing official traffic control deviceThat is interp[reted to include a ticket as a "traffic control device" Sources: Ex police officer awarulz 78 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. tickets Well, I just asked my husband, a police chief here in the State of Michigan, if it was illegal to write on tickets.  His answer was no, that quite often people write the ticketing officers name on it(even though it's already there) or other notes.  So, here in Michigan it would not be an offense.    In Georgia, it could be different, I suppose, but it doesn't seem like it would be a problem. Perhaps his demand was just that you stop writing and get back in your car, so as to prevent any further problems on the road? Or if you were getting verbally abusive with him, it might have been in regards to that. Without being there, it hard to know what the situation was.        Poppet! 78 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Please verify your account to give a compliment. Get the officer's name and badge #.. The "real" ticket is in the officer's ledger.. that's the one that gets submitted to the court, DMV, etc.Your "ticket" is simply a copy of the "real" ticket. So you can do with it what you want.. it's yours. If you write on it.. it won't affect how the "real" ticket gets processed.Report the officer for making threats, intimidation and harrassment to the Dept of Justice, the District Attorney, and to the Chief of Police of his department. His name & badge # will be on the ticket. If he's done this to You.. then chances are he's done it to Others also.. report him. Sworn officers are there to "protect and serve"! They have a code of conduct and ethics.. and should NOT be treating tax-paying citizens in this manner! When this officer's department gets enough complaints about him.. he'll get reprimanded.* Fighting the ticket..Go to court on your scheduled court appearance date(written on ticket).Ask the judge to Reschedule for another date.. make up a good excuse(medical excuses always work). Then when you show up, and the officer doesn't.. you win by default.* "Paying" the ticket..If and when you pay the ticket(say for $195).. mail in your check for a few dollars more, like $197. A few weeks later you'll receive a check in the mail for the $2.00, but DON'T cash it!Since you "paid", your ticket has been taken care of, but since you didn't cash your Refund.. this will sometimes cause the ticket to "get stuck" in the system.. and not issue any points on your record and/or make it to the insurance company.Anyways.. good luck :)* some suggested reading..:http://www.expertlaw.com/library/traffic_tickets/fighting_tickets.htmlhttp://www.ehow.com/how_18002_decide-whether-fight.html Sources: http://www.expertlaw.com/library/traffic_tickets/fighting_tickets.html macmac 78 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. awarulz said: 2 Legally speaking, the ticket, prior to the officer giving you your part and him taking his part(The third part goes to the court for disposition) is a court document. I have never done it, but I have heard of municipalities that were all hot about ticket defacement. You can write on your part just like the officer writes on his part. After it is detached. 78 months ago

In The State Of Georgia Are You Allowed To Write Notes On A Traffic Ticket? The Officer Said That I Could Not.

Postby Coll » Wed Feb 26, 2014 1:55 pm

Ok I?m going to be opened minded about this. I've received two other past tickets, both by State Patrol Officers(Over three years ago). Is there a law on the books that says that I can not write any thing on the ticket besides my name! If I sign my name then write a note on the ticket just like the cop does, so the Judge can see my notes just as he sees the officers what is wrong with that? Remember an Officer is a human, he can miss interpret a situation and make mistakes too. Bottom line did I break a law by writing on the ticket?
