Is an Unincorporated Nonprofit Association in Texas the right way to go for our club?

Postby amdt57 » Tue Dec 13, 2011 5:10 am

We are a social club which has been around for a while and are not a charitable organization, so we are not seeking the 501c3 exemption. However, we want to establish ourselves as a legal entity in order to trademark our name and logo which we've been using for the last 15 years. We have a loose knit association of approx 300 members. Is the Unincorporated Nonprofit Association the right way to go? I've looked at the State of Texas site and the FAQs seem to be more geared toward charities and such. Any advice on the right direction to take this would be appreciated!
