Is it okay to put a "for rent" sign even if my current tenant is 17 days away from moving out?

I have a tenant that is 17 days away from moving out and I need to rent the house (it's a duplex) asap but I don't know if its against the law to put up the for rent sign now or if I have to wait until they leave. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Absolutely, you own the property and are free to market it when ever you choose. Just be aware of state laws requiring notice to your tenants before actually showing it to prospective tenants.

Just a suggestion...if you don/t know the answer to this question it is likely you have never bothered to inform yourself on rental law in your area and it would be rather advisable that you took the time to do this if you are going to be a landlord.

The answer to your question is... Yes, this is why renters must give 30 days notice to a LL....so they can advertise and rerent if they want to. You need to give the tenant 24 hrs notice to show the place. They do not have to be home when you show it...just as long as you told them you will be showing it.
