Is it possible to license a product to a large co. without a patent?

Postby osbourne » Sun Jul 29, 2012 10:16 pm

I am trying to license a product but I only have so far a provisional patent application filed, so the product is patent pending. I have seen some companies now require a full patent before they even talk to you. Have things changed lately? Do I have any chance at all to reach a decision maker in a large company and license a product that is patent pending....I am thinking of cos. like Dow, Dupont, etc

Yes it is possible to license a provisional patent application. The hard part is finding the proper person within a large company who can make that decision. It's usually a good idea to make a 1 page summary of your invention using non-confidential information (people call this a non-confidential overview) and emailing or mailing it to both technical and business decision makers within each company.
