Is she telling me the truth that this is a law and will I get in trouble?

Postby delton » Thu Aug 02, 2012 6:40 am

I had to evict a woman and her family from one of my houses I rent out. I felt bad but they were 4 months behind on their rent and I could NOT afford it anymore. Today is the DAY the sheriff is coming to evict them. NOw she's suddenly calling me telling me I will get in trouble cuz Im also behind on the mortgage and so I have to legal right to evict them.

Sounds like she is trying to scare you into letting her scum another month for free.

well you're prolly behind on the mortgage because they are behind on their rent, I don't really see how that has any bearing on anything but who knows, it would help to put what state or city you are in as they all have different laws

Her argument wouldn't stand in court. You're the landlord, and she can't scare you into letting her stay while not paying the rent.

ABC is correct. The woman is not in contact privity with the mortgagor. Do not listen to her deadbeat gibberish.

Your relationship with whoever gave you the mortgage has nothing to do with this. In fact, that institution would apply itself to evict them if you didn't. Her argument is completely groundless.

It's none of her business if you are behind on the mortgage or not; the house is in your name and how does she know that your behind??
