No, real law firms are nothing like that. There will never be a TV show that accurately depicts a real law firm, because no one would watch it for more than five minutes. People are holed up in their offices for hours on end cranking out work, or conferring with clients who have problems which are never as interesting as the ones you see on TV. It's a lot of very hard and tedious work, very long hours, and there's really nothing glamorous about it whatsoever. No one walks around wearing Armani and looking fabulous, or goes out for long lunches at fabulous restaurants. People are rumpled, exhausted, and eat deli sandwiches at their desks. The petty office politics and back-stabbing are usually pretty juvenile, and would bore to tears any outside observer. The real work can be pretty fascinating and very worthwhile, and bring a lot of personal satisfaction, but exciting and dramatic, it's not.
