Is there a site for tracing e-mail address owners the way you can phone numbers?

I'm having a problem with a cyber bully who likes to send me e-mails pretending to be ones I love who have died. First they pretended to be my dog who died at the age of 16 (human) years old. Then they started pretending to be my friend who died at 26 from cystic fibrosis. In both cases they claim I killed them by sitting on them.

Fat jokes don't bother me as I've heard every single one in the world. I'm used to that. And I just delete the e-mails without reading them. The thought that hurts me is if my friend's mother had to find out someone was pretending to be her dead daughter in order to bully me.

I don't want to really report them (the e-mail address reads as @craigslist.com BTW) as they'd just get a different e-mail address and I'd have to go through making filters again. What I was hoping is I could trace down who owns the address.

See, I have my suspects. The #1 is my brother and/or his wife. As the cyber bullying started a week before I was to testify against them in a custody hearing. Both are drug addicts, he's not paying child support, and both abused my niece when she lived with them. They never showed up for the hearing yet it would be just like them to do this. They already spread lies about me saying I can't even pump gas, that I'm a lesbian who stays up till 5 am having cyber sex with women, etc. I can pump gas, I'm straight, and most nights I'm in bed by 11 pm, sometimes I stay up later reading or playing video games.

The other suspect is this kid who got mad at me when I said that Alan Rickman should play a character on Doctor Who. (Have you ever heard of a dumber reason to be mad at someone?) They said, "Alan Rickman's too old to be The Doctor" and called me a troll. I replied "I never said he should be The Doctor, I said he should be A CHARACTER" and that I've only ever trolled for fish. The cyber bullying attack started 24 hours later.

Now I could be wrong. It might not be any one of those three. But with the time line they're the most likely. If it is my brother and very much unwanted sister-in-law it would be nice to prove it's them as that could be used against them in any future court proceedings. They have a habit of filing frivolous things with the court. The latest being an order that his ex-wife & mother of his children isn't allowed to talk about them to anyone. Nevermind they have a habit of going to her workplace (a grocery store) and doing things like taking meat and ice cream and leaving them in other parts of the store hidden behind items.

They've also given out my phone number and the phone numbers of my parents - home and cells - to telemarketers.

Finally, they both filed for food stamps for my niece, even though she was no longer living with them at the time. She lived with us for six months and now lives with her mom.

So you see why they're my number one suspects. If it's anyone else, I really don't care. I'll just keep letting the e-mails go to the trash. Eventually they'll get bored. But if it's my brother and/or his wife, I'd love to prove it incase they try anymore crap.

Another reason I suspect them, the e-mail address name uses a Simpson's reference. My brother and the new wife are huge Simpsons fans.

You and I probably do not have the system needed to back trace ip addresses and confirm where you are getting the nuisance emails from
Options: First - google the Do Not Contact List and have all your phone numbers added, then if telemarketers call - you can stop it pretty quickly when you mention your numbers are there. It takes about a month for it to be on the list but you can start telling callers ASAP. If they continue to call take names and companies as they can be sued.
Second: You can forward the information to local authorities - honestly probably will not do much unless the emails become threats.
Third: Change your email address and don't share it with anyone you would even question as a suspect. Easy to change your address.
Good Luck.
