Is there a way to check your doctors background to see if they have any malpractice lawsuits?

Many states have disciplinary actions listed on the website of the licensing board. Check your states web page and they should have a link. If it's just malpractice suits you would have to check with the courts in your county.

Also you can go to the local magistrate where they practice, could be one for a hospital and another for the office. They would have a record if any suits were filed.
