Hi. I'm not talking about stealing anyone's real name and ss# or stealing anyone's money or causing any forms of deformation of character.
If a young girl is very insecure and stole someone's photos and made up a fictional character and pretended to be a girl in the photo using a different fake name and fake location on a site like Facebook or Myspace, would this still be an indentity theft?
All she does is to chat or message with a bunch of online friends she met on the net and nothing sexual.
I've seen it happen a gazillion times on Myspace when Myspace was so popular but i have never heard of anyone got arrested because of that.
I guess the tricky part is that there's absolutely no law against lying or pretending someone else on the net in the U.S.
