Did the study take into account how many people may have stopped using drugs because of this policy? Also, there is now hard data on drug usage, something useful to policy makers and social scientists. Hardly a loss!   Snow_Leopard 20 months ago

I cant remember the name of the man in charge of implementing the drug testing program in Florida but Steven Colbert interviewed him and asked him why the drug testing was necessary.the gentlemen claimed that it was to insure that these poor down and out people were not spending taxpayer money on drugs. Colbert asked this gentleman if he was paid with taxpayer money and he said yes. Colbert hands him a cup and tells him that he should pee in the cup because he is payed with tax payer dollars. the guy balks a Colberts request for a urine sample and they abruptly ended the interview. these people get a real kick out of stepping on the downtrodden and i think it is pathetic.   1TubeGuru 20 months ago

Here's the other side to the story. At the Regional Medical Center at Memphis, people get free medicine, then try to get you to buy it on the sidewalk, and there are plenty of customers. So yes, something needs to be done. But busting the above is probably better than requiring drug tests for welfare recipients. In my city, welfare fraud and drug abuse often occur simultaneously.   Yellowdog 20 months ago
