In California, all employers must meet workplace posting obligations. Workplace postings are usually available at no cost from the requiring agency. The Department of Industrial Relations requires employers to post information related to wages, hours and working conditions in an area frequented by employees where it may be easily read during the workday. Additional posting requirements apply to some workplaces. If you have questions about required postings, e-mail us at [email protected] or call (415) 703-5070.

I WORK IN NEW YORK AND WE HAVE THEM POSTED IN THE TWO COPY ROOMS AT MY FIRM. WE HAVE 3 FLOORS BUT THEY ARE POSTED IN TWO PLACES. SO IT MIGHT BE TRUE. GIVEN CALIFORNIA'S LIBERAL WORK RULES THEY MIGHT BE INCLINED TO HOLD YOU TO THE 2 POSTER RULE. JUST GET ANOTHER POSTER ITS CHEAPER THAN THE FINE.

Not going to give you a legal answer but a pragmatic one. Get a second poster.

How much is the poster gonna cost you? A couple bucks.

How much will it cost you to go to court to fight putting up the second poster, even if you have law on point saying you only need one. A couple hundred.

Also in mind that inspectors must find something wrong. If all their reports come backs saying every site is a-ok, they will get in trouble. Because no job site in the world is 100% compliant. The best you can hope for is that the inspector cites you for something that is inexpensive to fix. Like repainting an exit sign, changing a light bulb or adding a poster, instead of build ramp, widening a door, replacing the elevator motor, or adding another bathroom.

Now what do you think is going to happen if you fight the poster. Next inspection the inspector is going to go through your place with a fine tooth comb and find something expensive like your employee to toliet ratio is off so you need to build another bathroom or all your door frames are 3/8" to narrow under ADA.
