Ladies what do you think of this event?

I used to work for a small plumbing company and the boss,two other guys and me used to work together everyday. The boss' girlfriend was pregnant and was due to give birth anyday, so one morning we were all going to work on a building site about 25miles from the boss' house, and about 5 miles into the journey the boss got a phonecall from his girlfriend to say that she thought she was going into labour. So the boss turned the van around with all us workers in it a headed to his house so he could drive his girlfriend to the hospital. When we arrived at his house we all got out of the van and the boss to us all to "wait a few moments" and he went inside his house.
All us workers were waiting outside his house for around 20mins and then he came out of his house and said "I have been inside phoning around building sites and theres a job just down the road that I want you all to work on today."
I was astonished!
While his girlfriend was claiming that she was going into labour and wanted to be taken to the hospital the boss was phoning around building sites trying to find a work for the day for us!

I personally think hes an absolute scumbag, If my girlfriend or wife was going into labour I would drive her straight to hospital, pay my workers for the day (by law the boss would have had to pay us even if we there was no work that day) and forget about the days work.

In my view my girlfriends welfare and my babys welfare would come before money.

Early labor can last a very, VERY long time. You should be grateful that your well-being came into his mind at all. He probably assessed that his girl was going to be okay for a few minutes while he dealt with making sure that you were able to work to feed YOUR families that day. It actually sounds like he's a well-rounded individual with a level head.

Sounds like you just hate your boss and didn't want to work. You do realize labor lasts hours. right? It does. In fact some women can be in early labor all day so it was no rush. I don't see how this particular incident makes him a scumbag.
