Landlord new caretaker?

Well I was talking to another tenant in this apartment building I live in and she said that we are getting a new people taking over the building is it right for them to to kick everyone out just so they can do renovations and then they are trying to up the rooms to $800 which they are only $400 and this place is no were worth that is that against the landlord laws are whatever it's called I'm from Manitoba if that means different laws

It is legal and a good business decision for the new owners to do so. They will have to wait until all the leases or rental agreements expire to do it.

If you do not have a lease and are renting month to month, they can give you the proper, legal amount of notice to move. If the do significant renovations to the building and each apartment, they certainly can rent it for more. It's annoying to have to move, but they have every right to buy it with the intention of fixing it and making it a better source of revenue for themselves.
