Marrying a girl in Pakistan later this year. I'm an American?

Postby mads » Sat Apr 02, 2011 12:52 am

Hi, I'm 27 and getting married to a pakistani later this year. I've been getting to know her for two years and she is a kind, pure, (believe it or not) Christian, like me, girl. I will go down there to marry her so her family can witness it. When I get her down here to be with me for the U.S. Ceremony should I hire an immigration lawyer to handle all the work. It will be hard if I do it myself because I don't know all the laws. Does anyone know of any good sites where I can find good lawyers for a good price who do payment plans. I'm saving like a devil to get to pakistan and everything else. Somebody please help me. Thank you guys. I don't want to wait 10 years to see her. I'm pushing close to 30 and not getting any younger.

Well congratulations on your engagement.

Once you have been married and have the marriage certificate you can file for your wife. You will need to file I-130 and the G325a for both you and her and supporting documents

If she is here in the US you will need to file an adjustment of status file
1-130, I-485, I-765. I-864 g325a along with supporting documents it will cost you around $1800.00 and this does not include lawyer fee. you will need to show bona fide of marriage...meaning you are living together and have assets together ie: bills, bank statements.

you can file on your own, but the paper work must be filled out properly or your petition will be denied.

she will receive a temp. green card for which you will have to remove the condition on the marriage 90 days before the temp. green card expires.

Contact Catholic Charities in the US in your area, they can help.
