Don't you wish they couldn't???? Most(almost all) vehicle and traffic laws are reciprocal in all the states. Sorry. The good news is, it's not a moving violation, so it doesn't make your insurance rates go up. And the effect to your credit score will be minimal... and temporary.If you have proof the car was indeed registered, contest the ticket and provide the proof either in person or through an attorney(since you aren't local). But it might be a bit late now -- three years hence.
