Medical Malpractice-endometriosis

Postby Jarmann » Mon Jun 02, 2014 2:10 pm

Hello,

I am 20 and suffer from Endometriosis. I saw a "specialist" where i live in DC. She did surgery(12/30/2010) to confirm that I had endo..she found none/very little. She put me on numerous BCP(birth Control Pills) to treat it, although I had bad side effects to all nausia and increased bleeding. I was finally put on the Nuva Ring by my primary doctor since this "Spcialist" didnt seem to care that i was having such bad side effects. Well the nuva ring caused Extreme bleeding , i was sent over a perscription to take a whole pack of BCP's in one week! they thought this would stop the bleeding(this BCP was also a pill i tried early on that had side effects)...it made it worse. I flew up to Boston to see a specialist there to help me. Since I hadnt been able to work consitactly since January 2010, and have been in constant pain. I had my now second surgery 9/22/10..I was shocked to find that not only had my Endo gotten worse(stage 3) but my left fallopian tube was stuck to my pelvic wall..and the first surgon actually MISSED a lot(you can see the missed spots in the photos taken durring my first surgery). Thankfuly I am feeling better now 3 weeks post op. But I have gone through a YEAR of pain, and treatment and was told that im over reacting since i had surgery not even a year ago.. i am beyond furious with my first doctor and my GP. Do I have any grounds for a law suit? If yes, how do i even begin to afford a good lawyer? Thank You!

You can afford a lawyer. Most good lawyers, those who are serious about helping their clients, will undertake your case on what is called 'contingency'. This means that the laywer pays ALL costs of the lawsuit, and if he wins, he then repays himself and gives the patient the remainder of any verdict or settlement. So, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR FIGHTING YOUR CASE.

So, you do have what sounds like a strong case. Start looking for lawyers. I usually suggest calling your local Bar Association for a list of active lawyers. Or you can ask Legal Aid Socety for help. Sometimes the Bar and Legal Aid are part of the same organization. Look in the Yellow Pages under attorneys.

Your 'specialist' who did the first surgery did not explore enough to locate all instances of endometriosis. Endometriosis spreads quickly and widely and the doctor needs to examine all areas in the pelvis. I suspect she went in by laparscopy and did not expose all areas to view. The excessive use of birth comtrol pills was unwise and led to most of your later  problems. That  'ring' did nothing but exascerbate your problems.

Your Boston specialist may be valuable to any lawyer you hire. You will be wise to leave him alone and not stir things up by discussing malpractice lawsuits with him. Let your lawyer do that. So, get started find a lawyer now. You do not have any time to waste because January 2011 ia approaching in a hurry. Talk to several lawyers before you choose one. Try to find an older guy was loves to go to trial. Do not give up too easily in locating a lawyer. You may have to talk to eight or ten before you find one willing to take your case, It will be a costly one for him. Get started looking now. Good luck.
