Medical School? Law school? or niether?

Postby vipponah » Sun Feb 26, 2012 3:24 am

I am in college and I am extremely stressed! I dont know what I want to do with my life. I dont know the road to take. I cant stand math and science but i also dont care for any of the other subjects. WHat on earth do I do? I hade always really wanted to become a doctor. I know that if I had that position i would be great at it, but its the getting there part that has me constantly questioning and hesitating my decision for medical school. I am the first generatino in my family to go to college and my family is poor. I want to change all that. i see people just like that succeed but somehow i feel like i cant. law school isnt such a bad idea but I am afraid I wont be able to find work as a lawyer. I have no, and I mean NO connections in that field. I am afraid of how on earth i would find a job. It seems like everyone and there mother is going to law school. Med school is too hard. Law school is too risky. It feels like I come up weith excuses for everything. What do i do? What would you do?

Have you thought of grad school or specifically MBA? Business majors can make pretty good money and get on very high positions. I'm not a business major, but I have taken business related stuff and it's not as difficult as math or science for me. I hear there are too many lawyers and the highest chance of getting work is going to a top law school, and I mean like top 10. Medical school is hard to prepare for if you hate math and science. I recommend looking into grad schools. Remember go into something because it also interests you, your family will be proud if you're happy AND successful. Good luck :)

Well if I were to be you I wouldnot do any becuz you know that you hate both. Why not take some other classes diffrent than your usal ones and see how it goes. Volunteer at new places seek what your real calling is. even if you do become a rich doctor or lawyer you will never be happy. seek and you shall find. You sound like a hardworking person, don't let the stress take you down. Good luck in life :)

There's too many lawyers in this country, and not enough doctors. Therefore, med school.

First, calm down. You are in college, which is supposed to be a very enjoyable experience.

We'll figure out what to do.

You can't stand math and science, so then you would hate medicine. There is a ton of science in medical school.

If you goal is to get a high paying job, I would not go to law school. As you said, it is too risky. Actually, any type of graduate school is risky. Too many people graduate without finding a job and schooling isn't cheap either.

I would explore as many things as you can starting now. Try out psychology, business, writing, computers, or whatever. Travel to another country if you want. You should find something you enjoy that provides value to someone and the money will come.

But if you absolute must go to medical school, you can read about my experience:
