It depends on how long you've been there. For example, after 5-6 years, replacing the carpet is inevitable. You shouldn't be charged. If you were only there for a year or less then yeah - you can expect them to take the $75 out of your deposit. Unless you can prove that your carpet is in excellent condition, it's not worth fighting. You're going to lose that one.
I would fight it if you've been there at least 4 years though.

The age of the carpet is very relevant. If it was new carpet when you move in, you need to pay up even if they just replace it. If it was worn carpet when you move in, you could have a case to get the charges reversed.
