My animal was killed on school properties!?!?!?!?

Postby modraed » Mon Jun 18, 2012 4:52 pm

I have some chickens that I was raising at school in the Ag./FFA area. Apparently some jerk came in the middle of the night and killed a whole bunch of chickens including all mine, left some bodies, the place is covered in feathers and many chickens are still missing. They took some goats that were kids and spray painted the place. I guess some kids told the school and they wrote it off like it was the Ag. kids problem for handing out too many keys to the gate for people. I think they said something about filing it with the police but I'm not sure. I don't know if I can file anything myself because I never saw any dead bodies all I heard and saw were feathers and I heard the story of some kid who saw all of the bodies. All I know is, my chickens are gone. This isn't right and it's cruel. What can I do to find out who this sicko is? Who can I go to that will actually care? Could I get PETA involved, would that help? I'm just not going to sit and watch this all happen and be a victim of it.

You know, this investigation may be something better handled by kids--what are the cops going to do that they haven't already? PETA is the last thing you want to do--they probably think it is cruel for you to have chickens indoors or some such nonsense. What you want to do is keep your ears open and have friends do the same. If this is a stupid classmate who attacked your animals, that classmate is probably dumb enough to talk about it--either bragging to people or recalling it with their co-conspirators. Keep your ears open at school and you may find out more than the police can.

I am so sorry to hear this. Some people are truly just cruel and ignorant and unfortunatly, most people will not take this seriously because they are animals. However, you can do something about it. I would contact PETA and give a detailed, professional explanation of what happened. Also, contact any animal welfare/rights groups in your area. Do you have an ASPCA or SPCA within an hour or so? Use google to see who is in your area. You can even call rescue groups for information. Finally, it does not matter that you did not actually see it happen. You were raising the chickens and now they are gone. Contact the police. That is, in FACT, animal cruelty. Fight for something to happen. Chances are, this kind of thing has happened before and will again. You could see if there are other people at your school who will help you too. What they did in animal cruelty and you can build a case against them. Also, your school should have reacted. They probably aren't because they don't care and if noone makes them, they will ignore the issue. However, it is their duty to act now. Good luck.

If it comes to the well being of animals PETA is the LAST group you want to get involved. They are a horrid organization who only cares about their personal fame. When you claim to care about animals and kill over 95% of the animals you take in... well clearly your mission is not what you are telling people. Besides, any organization who wants to take helper dogs away from the handicap needs a good smack upside the head.

Nevertheless... police would be best to handle this situation since criminal activity was involved. These people could be charged with trespassing, breaking and entering, animal related charges and a handful of others. Also, if they find out who you can sue for the cost of the animals. Might not be much but at least it shows them that you mean business.

The school should get involved too since it was on their property and part of their program. I would be shocked if they were not.

Go to the school first and see if they are filing charges, if they are call the cops and tell them you want to be in on that report since your property (sorry sounds cruel but the animals are classified as property) was destroyed. If the school is not doing anything then do a police report on your own.

Sorry for your loss.

well if its going to be like that with the sicko you should get the peta involved because the person has no rights to kill the chickens like that or pluck them or what ever he or she did but they have no rights of doing that you need to find out the insane person because he or she stole them too and if all your all your chicken are gone and if there not well still get the peta involved still because that's not right to do that. that's animal abuse!!

Yes you should file a police report and see if the school has any insurance for the break-in that caused you to lose your property. I am sure the person will be caught because things like this are not easily done and I am sure the person has a history of violence and is already a suspect.

PETA is not going to help you and will make things worse if they get involved. PETA looks for conflict over solution and like the attentions. Humane Society gets our attentions by having a sad song on commercials showing injuried animals compare to PETA who would bomb a dog factory to make a point. Get where I am coming from?
