My Solicitor in not answering all my questions regarding the lease of a property I just purchased?

Postby stanciyf » Sun Jul 22, 2012 1:01 am

What are my rights and what is his job just to check the lease, I don't understand I have many unanswered questions and he is saying to ask 'the freeholder' but he is my solicitor isn't he meant to help me? There are many restrictions on my lease in regards to renting etc and all he is say is 'there are restrictions, speak to the freeholder'

[I'll assume that the property is in England/Wales and that you are in UK]
1. Did you ask him- or, if not, did he advise you- re the covenants etc. BEFORE you purchased?
2. You see, once you completed, it's yours- and all of them bind you even if you weren't aware earlier!
3. You paid him to do a job. Maybe he didn't do it too thoroughly?
4. Yes, you can speak to the freehold reversioner- but that could cost you even more.

I think he has a duty to tell you the right suggestion that how a problem will be solved according to your state laws.Because people don't know the complete documentation and other procedures so they need a solicitor for solving that problem. And i think if your solicitor ignoring you than try any online solicitor services that help you to find solution in easy way.
