Nc labor law question...?

Postby adare » Thu Mar 31, 2011 2:45 pm

im going cross-eyed trying to read the website and not finding any answers and i gave up after being on hold for 45 min with the 800 number. if you are required to do oncall time at $2/hr, can they tell you that you are required to stay at the office at that $2/hr rate incase you are needed or do they have to pay you regular pay if you have to stay at the building?

Nc labor law question...?

Postby dennie18 » Thu Mar 31, 2011 2:50 pm

It's my understanding that as long as you are at work, you cannot be paid less than minimum wage. I would go back on the website and see if there is a "contact us" button where you can drop an email. I'm next to positive that they have to pay you your wages (at least minimum wage) as long as you are clocked in. They cannot make you work off the clock under the guise of "on call". That's completely separate.
