Needing some legal advice on harrassment?

Postby bocley » Tue Jul 10, 2012 2:42 pm

Last year my partner was arrested for something rather sensitive, and it was NFA'd (no further actioned) last month. We were told to have no contact with the family, who happen to be my partners family, directly or indirectly. And we haven't. But they have started messaging and calling my friends, saying slanderous things and dreadful things about my boyfriend. I spoke to his solicitor and he said to tell the police, I told the police and they said there was nothing we could do, because of freedom of speech now the case is closed. So what can I do? We still can't say anything to them. We can't afford to take them to court for slander, any advice at all would be appreciated.

Let it go. It wll run it's course and they will stop doing it. In the meantime, you can still stay in touch with your friends and they should tell "his" family to stop calling them.

Everyone will be believe what they want, you can't change that. Just be patient, they will tire of it pretty soon.

When the "no contact" order expires, you can tell the family to leave everyone alone.
