I worked at a childcare facility which i loved at first, i always loved "my babies" & we created a great bond. Back in january i had an emergency at home so on my break with no children or parents around i was on my cell phone checking on the emergency. I got a verbal warning, and the next day it happened again & i got another verbal warning even though i thought i was following the guidelines on cell phone usage. I just owned up to it & said i was sorry & it wldnt happen again. A wk later the assistant director asked me to sign a paper stating that they had warned me then she called me 3 names that i cant say on here but one was the b word along with the a word & finished off with the c word - i was shocked. The next day i went to the director & the owners daughter @ the same time & told them what i was called & they said the assistant director was kidding but they understood where i was coming from, & said they would take care of it. The director also said she wasnt the asst directors mother so she couldnt make her apologize to me which i think is bs. After that things werent the same so on feb 6th i told them my last day would be feb 29th. The next day they told me to sign a paper stating i gave my 2 wks which i scratched out & put 4 wks notice then i signed it along with the director. This past monday at 330 pm i was called to the directors office & was told that it was my last day there. They said they hired someone that needed to start asap. It turned out the person they hired hasnt done her training yet & someone has to be in the room with her @ all times. I could have stayed my remaining days to help her & train her, instead they are scrambling to find ppl to be in there with her. My parents & others told me since i signed the paper stating i would work til the 29th that is considered a contract that they broke & i should be paid until the 29th. Are they correct? I live in tx & wld like to know the law on this. I also have sick days i nvr used.
