Well, there might be fewer gun crimes. But there will be more arsons, IED detonations, hit and runs and chain saw massacres.
The idea that getting rid of guns will reinstate an era of chains and brass knuckles where the "Fonz goes to a rumble" is naive. It may be that guns are more effective at killing than some other means, but its also true that they are precise - in most cases its only the person that you point the gun at and pull the trigger that dies, not so with burning down a rival gang member's house with him and his family in it.
People who kill with guns want to kill. Like the President said about smoking weed, "that's the point".
