Patent is gone from Google Patents and USPTO?

I have been researching a patent because it was for a product that was very similar to mine. I have a PDF of it which I saved from Google Patents (http://www.google.com/patents) about 3 weeks ago. Now I just searched for it again and couldn't find it. I cannot find it on Google Patents by patent number or inventor name or keywords. I thought it was strange so I went to US Patent and Trademark Office (http://www.uspto.gov) and couldn't find it there either. It is simply gone from both sites, completely removed from their databases. If I just do a Google Web search for it I find it on this site - http://www.faqs.org/patents/ but I am sure USPTO's database should be more up-to-date. The pantent is fairly recent too - Filed Oct 2007, Published Apr 2009.
How is this possible that the patent is no longer found?

Why would you ask a question like this and not give the number, title and keywords?

1) Based on the timing you gave, it is not likely that what you are talking about is a patent. It is far more likely that what you have a PDF of is a patent APPLICATION.

2) If you have a patent application number and you are searching in the pto's patent section, you probably wont find it.

3) Google's patent search is still in Beta and is a bit flaky. I have the best luck searching for the patents application number, that looks like this: 12/345,678

Use the edit feature to give us the info for the patent. we'll find it.
