Generally, personal injury attorneys working on contingency take a 1/3 cut of the settlement or judgment. You can expect the attorney to take about $8333 leaving you with $16666 (give or take a few hundred). After your medical expenses, you would be pocketing just under $10K.

The typical fee is anywhere between 30 and 40% plus expenses. Out of 25K, you can expect to see roughly between $14,000 and $18,000. After paying the medical bills that would leave you with between $7,000 and $11,000.

If you had retained an attorney, you would have already signed a contract that stipulated his compensation. Your post is a hoax, an it has been reported.

It is happening in all this type of cases when you don't get full settlement amount of your claim, because of the legal system of personal injury case. In this cases its settlement or insurance amount are divided in many level then reached to you.

You will be fine! Personal Injury lawyers will usually take a 33% of the total settlement, meaning that you will probably be left with some extra money. If you have any other question, or further information, please just take a second to go on the link I posted, it's the page to the most prestigious personal injury firms in Dallas, there should be enough information for you!

Some states require contingency agreements to be in writing and signed by a client prior to doing the work. Did you sign one? What did it say? What if you had lost? What if you had settled? Would the lawyer have been able to keep all of it to cover his or her time and expenses?

If you agreed to a 1/3 contingency fee, then you should get about $10,000 from the award.
