PLEASE HELP??! I'M SO STRESSED AND I'M EVEN CRYING BECAUSE OF THIS CHEMISTRY LAB?!?

Postby erwin » Mon Apr 23, 2012 9:52 pm

I have this lab, it’s due tomorrow and I’ve only had today to do it, and I don’t understand anything at all. It’s worth 98% of my grade and even after spending 10+ hours attempting at it, I check it online and the answers are wrong. I don't know how to do any of this AT ALL, please don't explain how to do it because I won't understand; just give me the answer. Everyone at Yahoo! Answers tells me to go f*** myself and that I should die. :”( Please, if you can help, I really need it. PLEASE. :”(

Use this data for questions to this lab:

Length of Mg Ribbon : 1 cm
Mass of 100 cm of Mg : 0.789 g
Volume of Hydrogen gas produced : 8.4 mL
Temperature : 23 oC
Barometric Pressure : 735 mmHg
Partial Pressure of H2O : 21.1 mmHg

1) How many moles of Mg does this represent?

A) 0.0003246 mole
B) 0.1917 mole
C) 0.0325 mole
D) 19.17 mole

2) Using the balance equation, calculate the number of moles of hydrogen gas produced from the amount of Mg used.

A) 0.0003246 mole
B) 0.1917 mole
C) 0.0325 mole
D) 19.17 mole

3) What is the pressure of just the hydrogen gas ? (Use Dalton’s Partial Pressure Law where total pressure is equal to room pressure.)

A) 735 mm Hg
B) 21.1 mm Hg
C) 713.9 mm Hg
D) 756.1 mm Hg

4) What is the volume of one mole of this gas at STP ? (Answer format: ##.#)

5) The theoretical value of 1 molar volume of gas produced is 22. 4 L. Using the calculated volume from the previous problem calculated your percent error. Answer format: ##
