Prosecutor meeting for speeding ticket?

Postby porter » Sun Jul 22, 2012 4:40 am

Hi, last month I received a speeding ticket in Ontario and decided to plead not guilty and go to trial. When I submitted my plea I checked off the "not guilty" trial option. Today I received a letter saying that "resolution of the charges may be available without the necessity of a contested trial" and a set appointment to meet with a prosecutor. Sorry if this is an obvious question, but what does this mean? Is it good?

Thanks so much for the time and help!

It's a pre-trial conference.
The prosecutor is willing to hear your objrections and may decide not
to press the case in court.
He will also get a preview of your defense and be better prepared if
it does go to trial.
