Question about NJ child labor laws?

Postby larry » Sun Jul 15, 2012 8:42 am

I am 17 years old now. I live in Pa but I'm starting a temporary job in Nj. I read through the Nj child labor website and it seemed like I had to get working papers but when I read through the parents guide to working papers it seemed like they were only for while you were in school. Also I've already graduated high school. Can anyone clarify and tell me what I need to do?

Question about NJ child labor laws?

In MA, you only need legitimate permits to work if you are currently in school. If you are under 18 but have graduated HS, you just need to go to your school or local superintendent and get a paper signed that says you are no longer a HS student. The employer generally needs a work permit on file if you are under 18, but you don't need to get a real one, there's a much quicker one if you are out of HS.
