Ran through a red light, (no camera or cop) can I get reported?

A couple of days ago I stupidly ran through a red light. (Which I will never do again) I wasn't paying attention and I don't know what I was thinking! I saw no cars and I thought it was green and went through while it was an advanced left turn for opposite traffic. Luckily there was no accident. There was no red light camera or police officer at the scene, however there were witnesses and I was wondering if they could report me if they got my license plate? Also could I be mailed/issued a ticket if an off duty cop saw me run through it? I have been a complete mess over this for the past few days and I am really nervous! Any answers would be greatly appreciated. I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada btw.

Take a chill pill and relax, even if you get a ticket, it's not the end of the world, they're not gonna throw you in prison. People make honest mistakes sometimes. If there was no camera or no cop, you're fine, you will NOT get a ticket. People have better things to do than waste time trying to give you a ticket

Yes, you can get reported for this matter. It is against the law to fail to stop at a red light.

It is possible, however it is very unlikely.

If it's been a few days and you haven't heard anything, chances are you aren't going to. And even if you did, this would be very easy to dispute- unless they got you on film going through the red light, then it would be your word against theirs. All you'd have to do would be to say that as far as you know, you haven't gone through any red light, and while you don't know what this person thought they saw, in your view they've got it wrong. It would be nigh-impossible to prove otherwise, and most police departments wouldn't give a stuff either way for a case that weak (they only seriously get involved if someone is hurt or killed, or a car is seriously damaged).

And too be honest, this really isn't that much to worry about. Let's suppose for arguments sake that you did get a ticket- people get tickets all the time. Sure the fine is a pain in the behind, but that's about it.

But as mentioned, it is highly unlikely that anything will happen in this case.

If a marked patrol vehicle didnt pull you over than you have nothing to worry about.
