Refund for unused service/ what are my consumer rights...?

Postby varik » Thu Dec 01, 2011 9:20 am

here goes: i went to a gym in february that cost 19.99 per month i went to one session and payed for that by card and as i remember filled out a form for the session. ( i cannot remember if it was membership sign up or just cover for that session) I went once. after that i didn't return to the gym or hear back from the company and forgot about it completely.
I recently found out after setting up online banking ive been paying for the gym each month since then. its cost me over £150.00 for a service i havent used. they operate a swipe entry card system but i never received a card or any confirmation of membership by email, phone , post after that session. they advertise that they operate as a "no contract" membership on their website. is it within my rights to claim the money back seeing as ive been paying for a service without realizing it and haven't received any correspondences from them? thanks

Another one squawking about RIGHTS...You had the right to read what you signed but obviously didn't.
If you didn't realize it that's on you, Mr. Over Entitled.

You need to read the form that you signed back in February. It's quite possible that the swipe card is awaiting collection at the gym itself.

Either way, you need to go back to the gym and cancel in writing.
