Republicans block bill that would have ended tax breaks for corps that outsource, and they are the patriots?

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate has rejected further consideration of a bill Democrats say would have eliminated existing tax breaks for employers who ship their jobs overseas.

Under existing law, employers may take tax deductions for the costs associated with moving jobs out of the country. The proposed legislation would have eliminated that, and used the resulting new revenue to fund a 20 percent tax credit for the costs companies run up “insourcing” labor back into the U.S.

This isn't the first time that Republicans have blocked legislation designed to rein in outsourcing.

I am surprised that the Democrats aren't publicizing this more.

Edit: @Richard: Read the article. The vote was 56 for the Democratic legislation. The Republicans filibuster everything so the Democrats needed 60 votes for passage.

In normal times, the bill would have passed. These aren't normal times because of determined Republican obstructionism.

Here is the only part of your article that's not Liberal journalism:

On the House floor this morning the ranking Republican member of the Senate finance committee called the bill “a joke,” suggesting President Obama’s campaign staff were its true authors.

“It’s devoid of serious content because it is of political rather than economic priorities,” Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said.

Speaking on the House floor, Hatch said it was “misleading” for Democrats to say there is a tax break for outsourcing. Holding up a large book, Hatch said the Democrats were trying to invent controversy.

“I’ll keep this book of tax codes at my desk here. If someone wants to show me the tax code that allows deductions for shipping jobs overseas. I’d like to see it. But it’s not in here.”

Because, it is called the difference between sense and emotion.

IF you do not give them the tax break, then they will still move the Jobs overseas, And the whole rest of the damn company too, and then You Get NOTHING!.

Come on, you liberals invented the term "less is more" and now you wanna tell me you do not understand it?

All you guys talk about is making new regulations that make it more and more difficult for businesses to be profitable. you will either make what they want to do Illegal, or tax the crap out of it.

And THEN, you want to call the republican's Fascists!.

Hey Tribecca: Why don't you just make it illegal for them to leave! you know, like they do in CUBA!!!!!!

" There were 56 "no" votes. How odd. I didn't think there were 56 Republicans in the Senate. (scratching head). "

Current Party Numbers: 112th Congress, 2nd Session

Senate
Democrats 53
Independents 2
Republicans 47

I notice that it is often the liberals who spout off first. My father used to call them "knee jerk liberals". I think it was because they react like a knee does to the doctor's hammer -no brains, just jerk.

That is about as patriotic as buying something made in another country. Got patriotism?

You have all the power in the world to punish American firms that manufacture overseas and sell their goods here. Why doesn't the person on the street, the consumer, wield this mighty power for their own benefit?

You want jobs and wages back and a bigger share of the pie? Stop buying their foreign made crap.
