Taking Prescription Medications On The Plane

Taking Prescription Medications On The Plane

Postby Joey » Tue Jan 21, 2014 11:11 pm

A friend of mine flew to Australia, and she had 5 prescription bottles for various ailments. In her hometown, the inspections people opened each prescription bottle and checked the pills. I have never heard of such a thing. Is this common place? I would think if you had your prescriptions in marked bottles, the inspection people would not do such a thing. Very humiliating!

Taking Prescription Medications On The Plane

Never had that experience but I can understand why the inspections people would want to look.  People are strange and not beyond using a legitimate prescription bottle to smuggle who knows what.  I have traveled overseas with my four prescriptions in their original bottles in my carry on.  I don't know if it was where I traveled or what but no one even looked into the bag.  Perhaps I was just lucky. Taking Prescription Medications On The Plane

I wasn't flying internationally, but I had some liquid cough medication, prescription, that was in my checked bags because of the no liquids thing. Well, they searched my bag and when I opened the pocket the cough syrup was in, the bottle was in there upside down and the lid wasn't tight so it had leaked all over. I didn't put it in there upside down and I *did* have the lid on tight. SO it seems to me they opened that, too.

Taking Prescription Medications On The Plane

They do check them, and it is important to keep all prescription medications in the pharmacy bottles they came in.  This seems a little overzealous to me, though.  I feel like they're checking for illegal drug smuggling.
