Texas Most Popular "must See Sight"

Must see sites I?m from AZ, but would think it would be the Alamo, President Bushes compound, Washington on the Brazos(where the Convention of 1836 signed Texas' Declaration of Independence from Mexico); Port Isabel Lighthouse; and the state capital.  These would be my top guesses. huskycritter 49 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Texas Most Popular "must See Sight"

The Alamo, obviously. I'm some hick from California and that's the only "sight" I've seen in Texas. Seriously, the rest was just a drive-thru on the way to basketball tournaments. Oh, we did stop in El Paso; that made me not want to come back. More currently, the Houston Astrodome might be back in shape after the storm and refugee fiasco some years ago. The original "Six Flags" is in Texas, outside San Antonio. danielpauldavis 49 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Please verify your account to give a compliment. OldHippieHatesNewAV said: 1 Has to be the Alamo. So many people grew up with the myth of the Alamo that the first thing they have to see when they come down here is the Alamo. And, since its smaller than what they've seen in the movies, they're usually disappointed since the Alamo is in the middle of downtown San Antonio and the Post Office sits where Travis fell.....there's a Burger King where the outer walls of the courtyard sat and so on. Since I live outside of San Antonio and have been down here for some 23+ years now, I still get contacted by people I knew up North who are coming down this way and have to see the Alamo. And, before I moved here, about 6 months earlier, I took a vacation down here - care to guess what the first thing I had to see was? The second was in Dallas - Dealey Plaza. The third was San Jacinto. Didn't see them in that order though, but you get the picture. And right near the Alamo is the San Antonio tourist trap - the Riverwalk. Interesting and all, but you can spend a fortune there. 49 months ago
