To get a patent do I need to do it myself ?

Postby ealahweemah72 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 12:23 pm

I have an invention.I know I need to get a patent and I looked at the United States Patent and Trademark Office's website, but it looked pretty complicated. Are there any services out there that makes obtaining a patent easier ? If so,what is the name of the company ?

To find a patent attorney or agent near you, go back to the USPTO site and use the index to find the Attorney and Agent Roster. Use the search form to search for the first 3 digits of your zip code. Plan on spending from 5,000 to 20,000.

You should retain a licensed patent attorney in your area. The attorney will file a patent application on your behalf (and you're right, it is complicated). That's really the only way.

If you have any non-confidential questions along the way, try my blog at www.patentqanda.com. I'm a licensed patent attorney willing to answer questions at no charge.
