Very simple for expert cleaning tasks in shared house … heeelp!!!!!!!?

Postby demarco » Wed Jul 11, 2012 11:16 pm

Hello

thank you for entering in my post

I share a 4 bedrooms flat with 4 other people so we are 5 of us

I made a weekly cleaning calendar where every tenant should print his name at the and of his week after finishing his cleaning tasks

One tenant, who lives with his girlfriend, doesn't agree, he says that we are 4 bedrooms and 4 bedrooms clean the house

How many people should clean the house?

May you send to me a link of the british law regarding cleaning tasks in shared house?

Any infortmaion about it will be very appreciated

thank you in advance for your help

There are no laws about cleaning in a shared house. Even in England it is expected that people accept some responsibility without it needing to be legislated.

It doesn't matter who cleans the house providing the house gets clean and it doesn't all fall to one person.

it is totally down to the people in the shared place to agree.

1 person could do it all and be happy
You could put cleaning money into a pot, and whoever does the weekly cleaning gets the money ;)

How is the rent shared ?
if the rent is shared 4 ways then cleaning is 4 ways
if the rent is shared 5 ways, then cleaning and any other responsibility is 5 days.

It sounds likes like there is one couple.
Be positive, that even though they share the work between the couple,
if you or the others get a bf/gf later (yes, it may happen! ) or have a friend to stay then there will be no arguments in the future about how long the gf/bf 'stays' if only there for 2/3 nights or even all 7 in a week. It has already been established that work and rent is divided on a bedroom basis, not the number of people in the place ;)

The "Do your Bleeding Share Act" 1795

Presumably if one of the tenants moves out, then only 3/4 of the cleaning is done?

Why don't the remaining three of you move into one room (temporarily) and then you split the cleaning between two rooms?

Or what don't you ak the uncooperative tenant to leave?
