We are being relocated, can anyone help with Virginia rental laws?

Postby emek » Tue Jun 08, 2004 6:30 pm

We are supposed to be in our lease until August but my husband's company is moving him the first of June. A landlord friend of ours said to give our landlord at least 30 days notice and because he is being relocated more than 50 miles away there is really nothing he will be able to do about it? Does anyone know if such laws exist or are we still liable for the full lease term as I suspect? Thanks for the help!

You will still be liable for the rent till the end of your lease, however since you husbands company is moving him they should and somtimes offer to pay the lease off. It doesn't hurt asking. Most big companies I've worked for do help if they want you to move.
