Not true.
The insurer actually has NO obligation to reinstate the policy if the payment is received after that cancellation notice is issued.
It's not at all like car insurance, where you can play payment games with the cancellation notice. The insurer wants to have enough time to verify that the check you give them, isn't going to bounce, BEFORE they reinstate that policy.
And normally, if the account is "late" more than three times, the insurance company will stop offering to reinstate. When the policy renews, expect to have to pay the premium in full, up front.
