What does patent mean, in Science?

In biology or medicine it means apparent or obvious. A patent for an invention that should make the invention obvious to others.

Scientific laws cannot be patented. Devices, processes and manufacturing means and methods that take advantage of or prove a scientific process can be patented. Read more:
