My ticket has no set fine and the officer told me to explain the situation to the court when I go (i was rushing to the hospital) Will I be in trouble for not being insured and driving ? Since my parents' policy is under the same address will their insurance automatically add me into their policy and raise their insurance? Also, does the police officer need to show up that day to court? If he does, what happens if he doesn't show up? I live in NY by the way and I'm 19 yrs old. Thank you in advance for your responses.

You need to be under someones policy, either your own or your parents'. If you are under your parents, you should be listed in their insurance company's records and have your own insurance card to prove insurance. You probably want to get this straightened out before you go to court.
