What is going to traffic court like?

I got my first ticket back in January for backing up in a car when it wasn't safe, my court date was supposed to be in March, but my dad got me a lawyer and she moved the court date to August 7, next Tuesday. I'm scared because I don't know what to expect and I won't do anything so stupid ever again

Did you actually hit a car when you backed up, or did the officer simply ticket you for backing up when it was unsafe. If it's the former, the judge will probably listen to the facts a pronounce guilt or innocence. If you're found guilty, it's probably a bigger problem for your insurance company (assuming you have insurance) than for you. Your insurance rates might get a little higher, but that is about it. If you just got a ticket for doing something "stupid" as you call it, you probably get supervision. At the very worst, you'll probably have to go to traffic school.
