Did you actually hit a car when you backed up, or did the officer simply ticket you for backing up when it was unsafe. If it's the former, the judge will probably listen to the facts a pronounce guilt or innocence. If you're found guilty, it's probably a bigger problem for your insurance company (assuming you have insurance) than for you. Your insurance rates might get a little higher, but that is about it. If you just got a ticket for doing something "stupid" as you call it, you probably get supervision. At the very worst, you'll probably have to go to traffic school.
