What is the difference between class action lawsuit and multi-district litigation?

Always in court proceedings we usually hear these two terms these are class action lawsuit and multi district litigation, can any body explain what is the major difference between the two terminologies?

Sometimes multi-district litigation is a class action. All the multi-district litigation statute does is eliminate the requirement of complete diversity for mass torts that have victims in two states. It is purely jurisdictional.
