I'm not sure if you've noticed or not, but the folks at FEMA are not always speedy, or efficient. If people want to hire others to do work for them, that should be their prerogative, shouldn't it? Not every company is fraudulent; there are currently many companies in the service area that have a good reputation and are privately owned. You seem to be implying that a privately-owned service is unethical, while the governmental ones are always the best alternative?? hmmm....Also--I don't believe that fire department was officially a "for-profit" department. What they were doing is what the majority of public service agencies have to do nowadays--set up a fee system for their services. I also believe that when the word got out what those fire fighters did(or didn't do) that all hell broke loose and changes were made for future situations. Something tells me that there were lawsuits over it, too. Poppet! 28 months ago
