What Random Act Of Kindness Did You Commit Yesterday (5/7/8)?

Postby Mokovaoto » Fri Jan 10, 2014 2:58 am

This tends to make me laugh at myself a tiny too...   I put warm water in the bird bath when it is frozen in the winter and vitamins(they drink it) in the water not too long ago...  I feed them nicely also... but I thought I would see if I could make the complete neighborhood a bit healthier.  I will be looking for shinier coats in the close to future.  I have a steady stream of bather/drinker now and they go through 3 quarts of water per day now!   My wife told a bunch of people visitng the property this final Winter that I place warm water in the bird bath and the ladies stated, "Ahhhhh...."  I truly tought that all of a sudden I was "attractive" to them!!  Ha.  The men laughed at me... as well keep up with my hardened exterior I said, "Yep... that is boiling water... I like to see the horrific expressions on their little faces when they first land in that boiling water!"    Only you and I know the truth.

What Random Act Of Kindness Did You Commit Yesterday (5/7/8)?

Postby Jareth » Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:56 am

This is an "instant karma" moment! One of the best kind! For the past two years I've been participating in a cancer survivors' study at the local university hospital.  The final meeting was today, so we had to go back and check out.  Parking at this facility is a nightmare, and to make matters worse, there's constant construction, and they're always changing where you can park, whether you pay or if it's free, and what you have to do with the parking stubs.  And they ticket relentlessly if you get it wrong.  This morning, there was a brand-new parking lot, complete with attendant and nasty signs threatening fines, towing, and slow horrible death to those who didn't follow all rules and regulations and get a parking stub to display in their windshield. So I gird my figurative loins, park my car, and go to my clinic visit. At the very end, they thank you individually, weigh you(sigh!), take vitals, wish you well, and then offer you two dollar bills for the new parking fee.  So I said to the facilitator that it was okay; I wasn't QUITE that bad off yet, and I knew that some of the other people in the study needed it more. I hop in my car, and drive to the attendant.  They're changing shifts.  One guy greets me and apologizes.  They're fiddling around, looking for something.  The guy tells me that he's going to lunch and he's sorry for the delay.  I tell him it's fine; I'm not in a hurry.  They finally get things settled; he takes my stub, waves away my money, and says, "Thanks for waiting.  Have a nice day!" I love it when things happen like this, so very instant karma-ish!  Lots of times it's just little things but they always make me smile! Umbalia 68 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. What Random Act Of Kindness Did You Commit Yesterday (5/7/8)?

Postby Martino » Sun Feb 09, 2014 10:59 am

I brought my friend/coworker a "Mother's Day" gift..... It was from MY daughter.  My friend can't have children, though she would make a wonderful mother.  We've been friends for quite sometime and she has helped me with MY mothering so much and has "been there" through the trials and tribulations with my daughter I thought that this Mother's Day she deserved a gift.  So, I brought her in something I had picked up earlier and thought she'd like and told her it was a "mom's day" gift from my daughter(who absolutely adores her by the way).    She cried!!!
