What're Property Taxes Like In Your Area Of The Nation?

House taxes in a number of locations of Indiana have simply doubled. How are they evaluated in your location of the region? What's the typical property tax on the $200,000 home?

My residence, which can be minuscule, is evaluated just about that, and my taxes are about four,000 per year.  They did increase for this year.  I've a 637 sq foot home on a 100 by 50 foot ton....

What Are Property Taxes Like In Your Part Of The Country?

Not so tax friendly in the upper midwest. A home valued at 200,200.00 on the tax rolls in the city of Madison, Wisconsin received a tax bill in the year 2006 for $three,757.17. About half of that goes to the elementary and secondary schools, about 10% to the vocational school program and the rest is split roughly equally amongst the county and local government. For comparison a property valued at $213,200.00 on the tax rolls in the city of St Paul, Minnesota received a tax bill in the year 2006 for $two,348.00.Both states have ranked among the prime 10 worst in terms of tax burden. dejapooh said: 2 In california, it would be around $3000 a year on a $200,000 home. Problem is there is nothing in california for $200,000. $500,000 or bust is the saying here. 75 months ago

What Are Property Taxes Like In Your Part Of The Country?

In Houston, they run about 2.8% to 3% of the home's value That may sound high compared to some states, but we don't have a state income tax, thank goodness.  A homestead exemption can knock off about 5% to 10% of the tax burden, depending on the county.  Your property is appraised every year(it seems like they come up with a random number), and can go up as much as 10% per year.  You can protest in person, but taking a day off work costs almost as much as you save in taxes.  They hope you are too lazy to protest and just pay it. A $200,000 home would have would have tax liability between $5,500 and $6,000 per year.  I hope this helps.   Manimal's Recommendations Real Estate Tax Secrets of the Rich Amazon List Price: $24.95 Used from: $5.39 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5(based on 5 reviews) There secret is to write a book!
